Feline Vaccination Schedule

The Feline vaccination recommendations at Apalachee River Animal Hospital are based upon the vaccine guidelines outlined by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP).  We use the Feline PureVax line of vaccinations for our feline patients, we feel that these are the safest vaccination products available at the present time.

CORE Vaccinations: These are the vaccinations that, with rare exceptions, are recommended for all cats.

Rabies Vaccination - Administered at about 12 weeks of age and boostered annually.

FVRCP (Herpes virus-1, Calici, Panleukopenia) - Administered initially at about 8 weeks of age, boostered every 3 weeks until 16 weeks, boostered at 1 year of age, and then every 3 years thereafter.

Feline Leukemia - Vaccination for feline Leukemia is considered a CORE vaccination for kittens.  Initially given at about 9 weeks of age, boostered in 3 weeks, and then boostered again at 1 year of age.  After the booster at one year of age, your cats lifestyle is evaluated and a determination is made as to whether the  vaccination is still recommended, based upon exposure and lifestyle.
